A MISSISSIPPI RIVER ATTRACTION

Yesterday, my husband and I went for a ride around the neighborhood. We live in the country and the neighborhood means at least a 5 mile radius from our house. Four miles from us is Lock and Dam #16 on the Mississippi River. We decided to stop and watch the barge locking through. Luckly, I carry my camera everywhere with me. I bet we haven't been here since the kids were little, they are 23 and 25 now. So here are some pics and some info on how a Lock works. These pictures are taken from the observation deck. It was a beautiful day and no one else (observers) was there. It actually was very interesting to watch. 1. Ah Ha!!! A few days back, maybe a week or more, I gave a shout out to the blog of a friend of my hubby. He, hubby's friend and a buddy are rafting down the Mississippi now, and I REMEMBER him talking about going through Lock 16!!!!

  3. Oh, wow! What a cool thing to blog about. I think locks are fascinating, but have never seen one in person. Such interesting things where you live! My husband was enamored with the paddlewheel, on one of your earlier posts.
