PICS FROM THE FARM

I just read a blog I've been following. One of the funniest couples I have ever met through blogland. Go to their sites if you want some wonderful humor from a farm family. You can find their blogs by going on my favorites list: Cohagen Chronicles or Pluhar's Rant. I guess I like reading them because I can relate to so much of it. Anyway, I have been inspired to just share pictures with you today. Some recent, some from the past.

These two are down both sides of the Mississippi. This pic is from my little corner of heaven. I wanted to build a house on top of this hill, but Alan said it would cost more for the road to it than anything else.

Grotto Pics, kind of a landmark in these neck of the woods. If you click on the pics, you will be able to read the names carved into the sandstone. One says Casey Jones 1861 and the other says Alan and a date 189?

I loved calving season, but it is a thing of the past, no more cattle, and one of the best decisions, in my book.

  1. Oh, I think you SHOULD have your house there!!! That view is breathtaking.

Here's an idea: Build the house and drive in there with an ATV - - - no road needed!!! :-)

  3. Thank you for the pictures from your corner of the world! I've been wondering what it looks like there. You have more trees. I'm a little jealous.

Your grotto pictures are so cool! Those look like harder rocks than sandstone, and they will last for generations, more.

AND, of course, my favorite pictures are of the cows! Aren't they pretty? Mmmmmhmmm. That little fuzzy faced grey one could come live here.

  4. I love the paddle wheel, is that the American Queen?

I agree with the farmers wife, your rock graffiti will last much longer than our sandstone ones. I think its fun to think up stories about the names. and how they got there.

You really do live in a pretty place. Would love to see more.

  5. We lived in St. Louis for a year and I remember how very nice Mid-West folks were and how GREEN everything was! These are some great shots and I love your new header!

  6. I've never seen your place beyond the house and yard. We should go exploring on the farm sometime. I'd love to see it all. And we'd get in something I need ... exercise.
