LUNCH... AND I'M COOKIN'

A couple of weeks ago, a few friends and I went to a Farmer's Market in Davenport, Iowa, along the river. I was in love, food, fresh fruit and veges, and whatnot. I picked up several things along with this Focaccia. I never had this and the sample was just delicious. I brought home 3 kinds and stuck 2 in the freezer. This one I took out yesterday.
After cleaning out the fridge, encouraged by a blog I read, can't remember whose, these are the ingredients I found for lunch. I had a recipe that Bunny's Warm Oven had posted for Beef Teriyaki (and I will try that another time), but I decided to make hot roast beef sandwiches instead. I sauted the onions and mushrooms, made a beef gravy with some beef broth and corn starch and drizzled it over the roast beef. I put the bread in the oven and toasted it, then sliced it in half, assembled the sandwich. They were delicious! The bread is what made it so special. Thanks all my bloggy friends who have inspired me to become a better chef in my house and my husband thanks you too!!!! If anyone has a good Focaccia recipe, please share with us on your blog. This bread was delicious and others might love it too...

    I'm coming to your house for lunch... be there in a few hours!!! :)

    That is a great story about your son and his tractor love... We will be visiting the BIG John Deere combines at the Iowa State Fair in a few weeks... Monkey is going to be in heaven! They actually have them open and let the kids crawl up in them! ... just something magical for little boys, aren't they?

  5. OK, so I had a Weight Watchers frozen-food-like substance for lunch and you show me this WONDERFUL looking (and did you know I have "smell-a-vision? Or is it "computer-monitor-smell-a-vision??) Anyway, how can anything made with those great ingredients in the bread be anything but glorious? Yum-OHHHH!

  6. I have the best bread book & it's super easy "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day". I'll even give the foccacia bread a try once I recuperate from having g'kids most of the week -- & run the vacuum. We have a great farmer's mkt. in Springfield & it's one of my favorite places. Your lunch looks yummy. Jan

  8. Your posts make me hungry:) The panini press is from Caphalon. I found it on sale at BBB and just bought it on the spot. I had been making do with a cast iron skilled and a brick.
