BOUNTIFUL PUMPKINS AND GOURDS

BEFORE
This slab of cement used to be where we had the cattle feeders, it's about 12-15ft wide and 25-30 ft. long. Someone told me if you plant pumpkins on the edges and let the pumpkins grow on the cement, they will be easier to pick and they don't rot as much. SO THAT IS WHAT I DID! and this was the perfect spot!

AFTER
From fence on the right to posts on the left is about 25-30 ft.

Remember how I said I might have planted too much zucchini, here is a pic re: that situation, along with gourds.
These fence panels are 20 ft. long.
Soooo, I think I will have enough pumpkins and gourds for fall decorations, which was my intentions, plus plenty to share with friends and neighbors...

  1. Now you need to set up a little stand in front of 'the Shed' and sell your gourds. I have the perfect piece of furniture in the shop for it too. We could set it up in the front window along with your stepping stones for fall...how cute would that be...Miss Gourd Queen!!!

You are gonna have tons of them, hope you planted birdhouse gourds...I bought seeds and forgot to plant them...DUH...thanks for the kudos too!

Now that things have settled down a bit here, I can think about willows, how cool would those trellis be by your gourds and stones...I feel a setting comin' on...ha!

    Hope to see ya soon!

  2. Oh, I love it! I had no idea they would hang out on the cement... I have a few pumpkins and gourds planted... but have to keep an eye on them, as they like to 'take over' the whole area! (they choked my poor bell peppers to death when I was on vacation a few weeks ago!) LOL

  4. They are so beautiful. I think that I need to live where you live. I love LA, I have a great house with a awesome City Lights view but I like the peace that I see in you photos.
Looks like you will have plenty to go around.

  5. Hey Lori,
I think there are a few of us that fit into the same mold. I think it's a good thing... We are, like the old things I'm drawn to, filled with a lot of soul, and I call mine, an old soul. I've felt older than all my friends, always, sometimes they are old enough to be my grandparent, and yet we are very close, and think in common... It's truly not the years, but the miles, and it is all about the journey...
    see ya later Sis,

  8. Hi Lori,
Thank you for visiting my blog and your prayers and comments regarding the loss of my dear brother. Your post was very comforting and greatly appreciated. I've enjoyed my visit to your blog, the stepping stones that you make are just beautiful. Mother and I used to travel through IL. and Iowa when we went out west and I just loved both states. I enjoy Sharon's blog also you are both very talented. Thank you again and I look forward to visiting again.
    Sallie
