CHICAGO - PART 2 - EATING AND SIGHTS

Friday early eve, we walked to Gino's East. We were told by a local that it was quite a walk, but well worth it and she was right!

There is graffiti on every surface of this place. Several floors, seating lots of people. Waited 45 minutes for probably the best deep dish pizza I have ever had and not bad on price. We were so hungry, I forgot to take a pic. I recommend trying this if you are ever in the area.

These HUGE stained glass shades hung everywhere. They had to have been 4 ft from side to side. Gorgeous!!
Lots to look at! This was about 5 ft. wide hanging on the stairs coming up to the second floor. There was 3 floors of seating, I believe. Each floor probably seated 100 people???
Then off to the John Hancock Building....

On the top of the John Hancock Building is the Observatory. The views are unbelievable!
Their slogan...

We were standing by the elevator waiting to go down and this sign caught my eye... Not sure I would live to see the bottom of the building. The elevator takes you up 94 floors in 22 seconds and you don't feel a thing, but my ears did pop, just like in a plane!
Breakfast on Saturday morning.... No.1 place for breakfast ... Again, too hungry to remember to take a pic of my plate. 11th and Michigan.... Excellent!!
Saturday was the Air Show. This was the start of the show. Parachuters with bi-planes circling them!
This is out of the J.H.Building looking down. This was the spot where we sat along with 2 million other people,,, 2 Million,,,, I couldn't hardly grasp that number, but people were lined up all along the shore which stretches forever.
We got to our spot about 9:45am. This is what it looked like at that time. Air Show was until 4pm.

This is what it looked like by noon.
We left by 1:30, everyone was fried to a crisp! We walked 45 min. back to where our Suv was. People everywhere!!! But all seemed very orderly. I never saw anyone out of line or threatening.
All in all we had the best two days and I truly would like to go back soon and see a few of the museums...

  2. Oh my goodness! I've never really seen Chicago pictures like this! In fact, I've never even thought of Chicago as a place I'd be remotely interested in visiting, but after reading your posts, that's all changed.

It sounds like you are having just the best time.
